Top 4 Sustainable Grooming Swaps

These aren’t in any particular order, they’re all fabulous, vegan, low waste options!

  1. Bambaw safety razor – Firstly, I have a confession… This is not my first safety razor. After being incredibly excited that I’d found my steel razor for life my clumsy arse dropped it in the shower and it shattered. It was a cheap and poor quality razor. This razor feels a lot heavier and sturdier, it’s also from a lovely plastic free company so I’m not too upset now I’ve found a good alternative. I personally found the transition from standard plastic razors to safety razors painless (aside from a couple of nicks on my first go!) so I definitely recommend investing in one. This one was only £16 on Amazon.
  2. Environmental Bamboo Toothbrush – This particular brand is Australian which isn’t very local as I live in England but it is available in a local health shop for under £3 and they last for ages. Not much to say on this, simple swap for less plastic. The bamboo is considered one of the most sustainable materials in the world. It’s vegan friendly and doesn’t threaten the food source of the great panda as the bamboo is so abundant.
  3. Amish Farm Bar Soap – So this product isn’t from the UK either and it comes with a plastic window in the packaging but it’s the best bar shampoo I have found to date. My boyfriend introduced me to these after I lectured him on plastic soap bottles  (it’s fine he’s aiming to work in the sustainability field, we lecture each other!). I’ve used multiple Lush shampoo bars with varying level of success, I love their Honey shampoo bar but my second one broke up on me and another one did the same. These are available on Amazon, only £12 for a pack of three! I usually only use this soap on my hair although it’s great on my skin (including face) too, I can buy normal bar soap locally and package free so it’s just about making the imported ones last longer. These are great if you’re travelling though, one bar for everything! This is definitely my favourite swap.
  4. Eden Perfume – What a brand! I love this brand! Eden perfumes are all cruelty free and vegan. They create perfumes similar to popular designer ones and are very affordable. They also give you a discount if you ring in your empty bottle t be refilled, what’s not to like!? These guys are honestly my favourite sustainable brand to date.
